Happy Holidays

Every month for the last four years we sent you a message in our USANA Newsletter about ways to improve your health, and your life. It started with a labor intense process of writing, editing, driving to store to print copies, folding and stuffing envelopes, to standing in line at the post office to mail them out to our customers. Our customer base grew and we decided to switch to e-mail and eventually we transitioned to a Blog format and posting on the internet.

We would like to thank you for all of the support and look forward to sharing USANA products and the latest health information as we learn of it. Our current schedule is allowing us to pursue additional interests that will take us away from the monthly format. Our update Blog at stevensfamilyhealthupdates.blogspot.com is the best we to keep up with everything we post. You can follow it or bookmark it for your convenience.

This edition of our USANA Newsletter will have a different format as it is mainly a holiday message for Thanksgiving and beyond to Christmas.

Thanks & Giving

If you are someone that gives thanks daily or perhaps your thankful awareness only pops up on the radar during this time of year, it is important to remember the importance of Thanksgiving beyond the food, family, friends, and football. Being thankful is not only recognition of others; it is healthy for you physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

It’s no secret that many people have less now than a few years ago. This long downturn in the economy has created the situation for many of us to tighten our belts. Be thankful for what you have today. You might not have a new car, an I-Pad or perhaps you might even lose your home. Look around you and take an inventory of your life. If you still have food, family, faith, shelter, clothing, your health and even the opportunity to be able to read this newsletter than you still have more than billions of people in the world.

The second part of Thanksgiving is the opportunity to give. Service to others is one of the finest ways to give thanks as it strengthens both the giver and receiver.

There is a story of a man traveling and experienced a breakdown with his car. Being stranded in the middle of an open road without any way to get a car started can be very stressful to say the least if you have a cell phone or not. After a short time a car was passing by and the driver stopped to offer help. The second man quickly found the problem and was able to get the first man back on the road and on to his destination. The first man was grateful and offered to pay for the assistance he received. The second man said that the best way to thank him was to pay it forward and help someone else that is facing a challenge in life. You increase the thanks by giving.

                                                                  Looking ahead
Thanksgiving is just the beginning of the “Holiday Season”. There are two sides to the season. The commercial side where deals are stacked deep and sold cheep in every aisle and online where you can e-shop and click, and click from the comfort of your home. The Spiritual side is observed by many with Christmas, others with Chanukkah, and some observe modern holidays that have no religious or spiritual connection. Either way there is if for a few weeks, the feeling of Peace on Earth and Goodwill toward men.

In our house we celebrate Christmas. It is only in the last few years have we really understood the importance of the birth of a baby in a manger over 2000 years ago and how that birth affects our lives today. There would not be any Christmas, commercial or spiritual without that event.

A few years ago someone shared the story of Keeping Christmas by Henry Van Dyke. This was written in the late 19th century but the words still have value and meaning today.

It is a good thing to observe Christmas day. The mere marking of times and seasons, when men agree to stop work and make merry together, is a wise and wholesome custom. It helps one to feel the supremacy of the common life over the individual life. It reminds a man to set his own little watch, now and then, by the great clock of humanity which runs on sun time. But there is a better thing than the observance of Christmas day, and that is, keeping Christmas.

Are you willing to forget what you have done for other people, and to remember what other people have done for you; to ignore what the world owes you, and to think what you owe the world; to put your rights in the background, and your duties in the middle distance, and your chances to do a little more than your duty in the foreground; to see that your fellow-men are just as real as you are, and try to look behind their faces to their hearts, hungry for joy; to own that probably the only good reason for your existence is not what you are going to get out of life, but what you are going to give to life; to close your book of complaints against the management of the universe, and look around you for a place where you can sow a few seeds of happiness--are you willing to do these things even for a day? Then you can keep Christmas.

Are you willing to stoop down and consider the needs and the desires of little children; to remember the weakness and loneliness of people who are growing old; to stop asking how much your friends love you, and ask yourself whether you love them enough; to bear in mind the things that other people have to bear on their hearts; to try to understand what those who live in the same house with you really want, without waiting for them to tell you; to trim your lamp so that it will give more light and less smoke, and to carry it in front so that your shadow will fall behind you; to make a grave for your ugly thoughts, and a garden for your kindly feelings, with the gate open--are you willing to do these things even for a day? Then you can keep Christmas.

Are you willing to believe that love is the strongest thing in the world--stronger than hate, stronger than evil, stronger than death--and that the blessed life which began in Bethlehem nineteen hundred years ago is the image and brightness of the Eternal Love? Then you can keep Christmas.

And if you keep it for a day, why not always?

But you can never keep it alone.

It's whats inside that counts.

The anticipation for Halloween was once for kids only but today adults also look forward to Halloween and the chance to become someone else, even for just a couple of hours. The familiar sounds of Trick or Treat will leave those that open the door guessing about who is inside the face of Darth Vader, Snow White, Dracula, Political Personalities or the new "Costume" of the year.
We are often guessing what is inside when reading a label for nutritional supplements. What is inside? It seems like such a simple concept of the ingredients on the label matching what is inside but many manufacturers will say one thing on the label but provide something else inside. USANA has what is known as the USANA Difference. The products inside and the labels outside are the same.
This edition of the USANA Newsletter will provide information about the USANA Difference,  Kickin it with Kathy, USANA read by 65 million readers, our blogs of health and fitness, and what's inside of you.
What is the USANA Difference?

Kickin’ It with Kathy- Kathy Kaehler
The Vision of Dr Wentz is often shared by people looking to improve their quality of life. Sharing can also include using the products in a different way than before. The Nutrimeal from USANA is one example of sharing. There are many ways to enjoy the USANA meal replacement by adding different foods and drinks to enhance the flavor. Here are some by Celebrity Trainer and USANA Spokesperson Kathy Kaehler.
For my Nutrimeal™ shakes, I shake it up every time. I love adding flavored baking oils and spices to mine. French Vanilla is simple, but add a drop of almond extract and you will experience a whole new shake. And as for adding orange or lemon peel spice…ooh la la! I also love the touch of fennel or anise; it gives that black licorice hint, but blends nicely with the vanilla flavor.

Want more? You can add even more variety to your Nutrimeal shakes. Add your allotted serving of fruit or flavorings and ice to “shake up” your Nutrimeal shakes. Here are a few easy recipes:

* Chocolate Banana: Dutch Chocolate Nutrimeal made with water. Add one fresh banana.
* Chocolate Coconut or Chocolate Mint: Dutch Chocolate Nutrimeal made with water. Add coconut or mint extract to taste.
* Razzmatazz: Wild Strawberry Nutrimeal made with water. Add one-half, or one full cup of frozen raspberries.
* Berrylicious: French Vanilla Nutrimeal made with water. Add one-half, or one full cup of mixed berries.

These are all easy to try. Mix and match. Create your own, but make sure you share with me!

*Kathy Kaehler is a paid endorser of USANA Health Sciences, Inc.

USANA message shared with millions of readers.
Recently there were articles on people.com and Ivillage.com that were read by over 65 million people. These articles mention USANA, Fitness, health, and Kathy Kaehler. As the USANA Family grows, more people are discovering True Health with USANA... Read more from Blogusana.blogspot.com

What is inside you?
Halloween does give us the chance to dress, act and become like someone else. We have 364 other days of the year to dress, act, and become ourselves. You are the original version of yourself. Yes, you can reinvent yourself but it is revealing something that was already inside of you waiting for a chance to come out. Your health, good or bad provides you the opportunity to reveal what you are made of, your character, your values, and your attitude. There are many people facing health issues including kids that continue to find courage and strength within them and are the inspiration to family, friends, doctors and caregivers. We all face difficult times in our lives and the choices we make is what defines who we are and what we will become.
Dr. Wentz founded USANA with a concern for his own health and losing his parents to heart disease and breast cancer with this vision. "I dream of a world free from pain and suffering. I dream of a world free of disease. The USANA family will be the healthiest family of Earth. Share my vision. Love life, and live it to it's fullest in happiness and health".

Starting Over

Every year people begin new journeys in September. Sometimes it is for school but that does not have to be the only reason. Also, the date on the calendar does have to be why you begin something new in your life. Your journey could be about health, financial freedom, educational, physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. You can begin a new journey anytime. The only thing that limits your journey are the ones you create.

This edition of our USANA Newsletter begins a new chapter as we turn the page with new product announcements from the International Convention, more Blog posts throughout the month, and discovering the journey of your lifetime.

USANA International Convention

This year we were fortunate to attend the 18th USANA International Convention in Salt Lake City Utah. There were many elements of the convention for breaking through the barriers in life including hearing from USANA Leaders, Company Executives, Keynote Speakers, music, comedy, a 5k Run/ Walk for the Childrens Hunger Fund, and the scientific breakthroughs with the new products.

New Products

USANA is now one of the first Nutritional Supplement Companies to use Hybrid Nutritional Technology. A synergy of products that creates a more powerful product than the two stand alone products. This state-of-the-art approach to formula design and manufacture features bilayer tableting: the separation of various formula ingredients into two distinct tablet layers. Now, for the first time, previously distinct products can be joined into a single formula. Incompatible ingredients can be combined in a single tablet. And key nutritional ingredients can be visually highlighted in distinct tablet layers.

Did you know that grape seed bioflavonoids and Vitamin C work together to provide advanced antioxidant protection?

Proflavanol® C100
Made using our innovative Nutritional Hybrid Technology, Proflavanol C100 combines USANA’s unique bioflavonoid supplement, Proflavanol, with a powerful dose of the immune system protection of vitamin C.* Also available in MyHealthpak.

Now the latest category is all about Digestive Health.

We already told you about the new Hybrid Hepasil DTX. Another product that was introduced last year is the Probiotics Plus. USANA also revealed a new Fibergy Plus & Digestive Enzyme.

Fibergy® Plus
Cholesterol free and low in sodium, Fibergy Plus can be mixed with juice, water, or even Nutrimeal™ shakes, taking on the flavor of the drink you mix it with and providing 12 grams of fiber per serving. It is gluten, dairy, and soy protein free and promotes good digestive health and healthy bacterial growth.*

Blog Posts
This newsletter will have continue to have a changing look over the next few months. One change will be the Blog updates. In August we started to Blog six days a week and will not include all of our updates in the newsletter. Our update Blog is stevensfamilyhealthupdates.blogspot.com. You can access our update Blog from this page by clicking on the link on the right side of the page. It took a few days to get it down but the format we went for is Monday: Fitness & Exercise, Tuesday: Essentials of Health updates from USANA or something specific about vitamins, minerals, fats, carbs, or protiens, Wednesday is USANA news including products and other newsworthy events, Thursday will feature writings and articles for some of the Professionals in USANA or something recently learned about Degenerative Diseases, Friday is about well being or self improvement, & Saturday is about food, eating, cooking, or learning to read nutrition labels. Please bookmark our blog for easy reference.

Journey of your lifetime
Every day you continue down a path or begin a new path on your personal journey though life. During the convention, one of the speakers was Linda Armstrong Kelly. She is the mother of Lance Armstrong. She talked about Lance and his courage. Not so much about winning the Tour De France seven times in a row but about overcoming two cancers: Testicular and brain.
She also told her story of being a 17 year old single Mom. No matter what life gives you it is important to never give up. She stated four things to remember. 1. It begins with believing in yourself. It could be the Angel or Devil on your shoulder telling you you can or can't or just a voice from within that is either building you up or tearing you down. 2. Ask questions even if it means getting a second opinion. 3. Communicate and connect with people around you. Do you spend time talking with your family around the dinner table. 4. Give back or give service. Performing service towards others can help you to overcome negative thoughts and can help you find your own passions.
You are the one breaking through the barriers that are in your life; both real and artificial. It has been said that some prefer to travel down the road less traveled or even the road that is best traveled. It can even go one step further. The journey you are on is the road never traveled. No One has what you have now, in the past, or in the future. Your experiences are yours in this life. You are unique and can draw on the knowledge and experience of others but you still own it.

Summer- the Season of Family Memories.

Summer is often the time of the year where we do things that will live in our memories throughout our lives. It is a transition time between grades, schools, work, and love. It is often looked at as a break but can often lead to growth as we learn about life. It is a time for family vacations, travel, adventure, and family reunions.

Recently we went to a Family Reunion and went to a place where my Dad spent his Summers as a youth. One morning we were sitting around the breakfast table and family members were sharing the different medications and Statin Drugs they were taking for various conditions such as cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and more. When it came time for me to speak my response could have been silence since I'm not taking any of the Statins, but I replied that I take Nutritional Supplements.

This edition of our USANA Newsletter features health and nutritional information to help you and your family lead healthier lives. A timelyarticle by Dr. Ray Strand on Sugars and Sweeteners, our Blog Updates, product of the month Ginkgo p-s, Additional Health updates and your family history.

Sugars and Sweeteners Ray Strand M.D.

Your Family History

This Summer has allowed us to look at out own life and the history of our family. There are close family members that are in poor health and soon we will only have their memories. It is often talked about that our health or sometimes lack of is due to our family history. There are certain genetic traits that can be passed from one generation to another. It counts for about 30% of our overall health. The rest comes from our lifestyle choices. We often blame our parents for our looks, hair(and lack of), disposition, health, and many other things when it fits. Blaming others is looking at life from a point of weakness. Strength can be found in noticing your faults , taking action, and finding a way to overcome them. You can change many things in your life especially your health.

What do you do to preserve your family history? The things you do this Summer may one day become memories others have about you. It is important to know your family history for your health and wellness. It is even more important to know their life stories. There are so many ways to connect with and learn about your Family. The Author Michael Crichton said, If you don't know your family's history then you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree.

Health & Freedom

The words health and freedom are often used together in USANA as the vehicle to promote physical and financial health and wellness. It is often unfortunate that both health and freedom are taken for granted. It is only when one or both are gone that we truly understand their value. When your health is good, you enjoy tremendous freedom. As health decreases, many freedoms become memories. Men like Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson knew the value of these words. One of Ben Franklin's most famous quotes is " Early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Thomas Jefferson is known as the author or our freedom. He understood health and exercise when he said, " Leave all the afternoon for exercise and recreation, which are as necessary as reading. I will rather say more necessary because health is worth more than learning. "

This edition of our USANA Newsletter gives you the freedom to choose health with Blog posts from our Blog and links to other websites about improving health and USANA recognitions, the freedom to do your own online health assessment, product of the month My Healthpak, and freedom celebrated.

Celebrating Freedom
July 4th, 1776 is the date that Americans recognize and celebrate as the birth of our freedom and independence. The document that declares our independence was signed by 56 men that risked their lives to do so. Many paid the ultimate price for preserving and protecting freedom in the 234 years since our Nation was founded. Individual freedoms have different meanings for everyone. Your personal freedom begins with health. True health is living in freedom from disease, pain, and suffering. The freedom of health allows prosperity in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Your Family- healthy or living with disease?

There comes a time when you begin to see your Parents, Grandparents, or even your own health begin to fade. As of this writing we're not sure which is harder to experience; seeing the physical effects of Cancer, Diabetes and Heart Disease, or the mental effects of Dementia. It's true that lifespans are longer now than a generation ago, but what is the quality of life in the longer years? Dr Myron Wentz, the Founder of USANA said, “I find it tragic that the vast majority of people leave this earth too soon and spend too many of their years in pain and suffering. In a sense, we are living too short and dying too long. Chronic degenerative diseases are rampant throughout the world."

This edition of our USANA Newsletter takes on some degenerative diseases that have found their way into many families. Dr. Ray Strand tells us about Soy Food Intake and Breast Cancer Survival & our Blog Posts on Cardiovascular Disease, Breast Cancer, & Cognitive Decline(memory loss). There are also links to other sites where can read about Multivitamins also being for the young & a new market for USANA . Our Product of the month is BiOmega. We also give recognition to Fathers.

Soy Food Intake and Breast Cancer Survival Dr Ray Strand
There has been a great deal of confusion and conflicting findings in breast cancer patients and their use of soy protein. Soy foods are rich in phytoestrogens, mainly in the form of isoflavones, which are natural estrogen receptor modulators. These phytoestrogens in soy possess the ability to bind to estrogen receptor site and exert both estrogen-like effects and anti-estrogen effects. Soy constituent have also been shown to have other anticancer effects, like slowing cell division and decreasing blood vessel development, which both slow cancer growth. Soy protein may also boost the immune system and have some antioxidant effect. Read the full article...

Product of the Month: BiOmega
You know that fish oil is really good for you because it contains important omega fatty acids, which contribute to brain development and both joint and cardiovascular health. But storing fish and cooking it properly is a hassle. And when you have a busy lifestyle, eating fish out every night can get pretty pricey, pretty quick. BiOmega is a fish oil supplement that’s easy to take every day, especially when you don’t feel like you’re getting enough fish in your diet. What makes BiOmega exceptional is that it has all the benefits of fish oil in a convenient gel capsule, and it is essentially free of harmful contaminants like mercury because of its triple distillation process. It also contains concentrated doses of DHA, a beneficial fat that supports memory and learning, and is greatly recommended for pregnant women.* And BiOmega contains an additional dose of vitamin D, a nutrient found deficient in the average diet....Read more

Worthy Accomplishments.

Many Men are Fathers, but not all have the desire or ability to be an active and effective Dad. You can learn from your own Dad in ways to become a positive role model for your Children regardless of how you were raised. It's your choice on the type of Father you are or will become. There are many wonderful Dads that became great through the daily on the job training they experience with their Children. There is still time to become a great Dad as there is no finish line when it comes to parenting. If you are a Dad or plan to become one some day, begin by taking care of your health and then the health of your family. The well being you bring to the table will become the building blocks that your Children will be shaped with in their own growth and development. Dr. Wentz has also said that we should live life to it's fullest in happiness and in health.

Honor your health

There is no one better than you for preserving your health. This is also no one better than you for destroying your health. It comes down to honor. Do you honor or dishonor yourself with the choices you make? Honor to yourself could be eating 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Dishonor to yourself could be eating 5-9 servings of junk food daily. The same honor and dishonor rules apply to exercise, rest, supplementation, and any thing that affects your physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual well being.

This edition of our USANA Newsletter includes some ways of honoring yourself through our Blog Posts about exercise and supplementation. We are also providing links to additional blogs from USANA and articles about maintaining your health. USANA is recognized for products and work place. The product of the month is Rev3, a healthy alternative energy drink. Something that honors U.S. Soldiers, a World War 1 Documentary called Voices of a Never Ending Dawn on PBS. Learn about a USANA Super Saturday in Irvine. Finally, people to honor in May.

Product of the Month: Rev3
Why not energize with something that is good for you? Cleaner. Smarter. Stronger. Rev 3 Energy is all the power of an energy drink—refined. Rev3 is a great alternative to crash-and-burn energy drinks. What makes Rev3 Energy unique is that it contains a significant amount of L-carnitine. This ingredient offers two important functions in energy production: first it shuttles fatty acids into the mitochondria where they can be turned into energy, and secondly L-carnitine helps transport the toxic byproduct of energy combustion out of the mitochondria to prevent accumulation. Rev3 is also distinguished by its low-glycemic formula. The total glycemic load from Rev3 is three to four times lower than traditional energy drinks. Typical energy drinks spike your blood sugar levels for a quick burst of energy, but lead to a crash soon after, leaving you feeling drained. Rev3’s proprietary formula creates more of a sustained feeling of energy. Rev3 Energy—join the healthy energy revolution.* Read more...

Later in the month is Memorial Day. A day to remember the Men & Women that died protecting and serving our Country. A common trait between Mom and our Military Deceased is that they are honored for what they gave to us. We slightly change the words of Calvin Coolidge. " No person was ever honored for what he(or she) received. Honor has been the reward for what he(or she) gave."

Still no magic bullet for your health

We might not know all of the changes that will come with the passage of National Health Care by the Congress in March. We do know that when it comes to our individual and family health that our actions determine our health or disease. Former Surgeon General C Everett Koop said, "Your choice of diet can influence your long-term health prospects more than any other action you might take."

In this issue of our newsletter we will provide you with information to promote your short and long term health with news of the recent partnership of Trainer Kathy Kaehler and USANA, Autoimmune disease & Osteoporosis from Dr. Ray Strand, a free health assessment, our Blog posts, USANA Product of the Month: USANA Foods, and becoming a champion of your life.

A few weeks ago many people within and around the USANA Family started a Summer Slimdown program with fitness expert and Celebrity Trainer Kathy Kaehler. It includes utilizing the Reset Program from USANA, Cellular Nutrition with USANA Products, and customized workouts by Kathy. The workouts are available on the USANA Blog what's up, USANA?

Autoimmune Disease - Dr. Ray Strand

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimates that over 23.5 million Americans suffer from an autoimmune disease and the prevalence is rising. Researchers have identified 80 plus different autoimmune diseases and suspect at least 40 additional diseases of having an autoimmune basis. In this newsletter, I am going to discuss the general aspects of autoimmune disease rather than talk about any specific disease...click here to read more

Osteoporosis- Dr Ray Strand
Osteoporosis is an epidemic nutritional deficiency in the United States. There are more than 25 million Americans who have osteoporosis, and the cost to the economy of the United States is about 14 billion dollars each year. At least 1.2 million fractures occur each year in the United States as a direct result of osteoporosis. I have had patients fracture a hip as they simply walked into my office without any kind of fall or injury. Spontaneous compression fractures of the vertebrae of the back cause tremendous pain and tremendous suffering in my patients with osteoporosis...click to read more.

It will help you to analyze your nutritional needs, optimize your diet and supplement regiment, and help you realize your full health potential. Click here

Blog Posts
We have an update blog at stevensfamilyhealthupdates@blogspot.com that often has the latest studies on supplementation and USANA News. Here are some recent posts starting with new information on Vitamin D.

Inadequate vitamin D levels are known to be associated with certain cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors, but until recently the association between vitamin D levels and the prevalence of CVD had not been comprehensively examined in the general U.S. population.

Low concentrations of vitamin D have been associated with a number of diseases. Research out of New Zealand indicates that serum concentrations of vitamin D may also influence pulmonary (lung) function.

We also posted a video about the USANA Essentials being the highest rated supplements in the World. Click here

In the area of weight loss there are super diets and even surgery to get you to where you want to be with little or no effort. Any worthwhile endeavor or major lifestyle change usually takes a consistent and focused effort. It is important not to lose sight that you are worth the time, money, and investment you make in yourself. USANA and Klemmer and Associates are two of the many tools we use to improve our health, our family, relationships, business, and personal growth.

We began our USANA journey four years ago and enjoy great health today. We accomplished many things that were once beyond anything we thought were possible for us as a result of shifting a way of thinking and developing daily habits. Nutritional March

Charles Dickens once said," It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade." The Month of March is known for many things including the arrival of spring. March is also National Nutrition Month. USANA continues to be a leader when it comes to Nutrition and Health. We have a link for National Health Awareness and other March health awareness concerns on our main blog page under the heading Making a Difference in the Lives of Others. Click here...

Obesity Trends

Christine Wood MD, Pediatrician

The public health alarm has sounded and most people are well aware of the increase in overweight children in the U.S. The questions we are grappling with - why is this trend occurring and what does it mean for the future of our children?

Answering the first part of this question could be stated very simply - too many calories and too little activity, but in reality it is more complex. The media marketing food and sedentary activities to our children, cheap processed food choices, the ease of fast food for stressed out parents, schools offering sodas and candies, communities that make driving necessary and walking almost impossible, and the list could go on and on.

But who is ultimately responsible for the problem? Read more...

D Day: An All-out Assault on Chronic Disease by Vitamin D.

Ladd McNamara M.D.

“D Day,” a military term used to designate the day a combat operation will commence, the most famous, of course, occurring on June 6, 1944; the date of the largest amphibious assault in which the allied British and American forces stormed the beaches of Normandy into Nazi-occupied France, becoming one of the most significant battles in winning World War II. The comparison for my article on increasing our intake of vitamin D may be a bit dramatic, but it is not too far off from what I suggest should be our “D – DAY” for going all out on supplementing with vitamin D against chronic disease, particularly when 4 out of 5 people are significantly deficient in vitamin D. Becoming a better version of you
No One but you knows what it will take to become a better version of yourself today than you were yesterday. There are many levels where a better version of you is waiting to come to the surface. It can be with your physical, spiritual, or financial health. You can also find better versions of yourself mentally and emotionally. One of the purposes of this newsletter is to open up areas in your life where the better you can shine. Mainly with health and lifestyle improvements by using USANA Products. There are always ways to improve many areas of our lives.
One of our Mentors told us about the difference of hoping, believing, and knowing. Hope is something that you might not know if it is true but as you exercise it with faith it increases. Believing is something that has gone beyond hope due to increasing faith and some experience witnessing events making it true. Knowing goes beyond hope, faith, and belief. It is rock solid. No One or nothing can change what you know to be true.
About four years ago we looked to USANA to improve our health after losing a family member to multiple Chronic Diseases, and hoped what we heard was true. After taking some of the products and some of the improvements we saw in our lives, we felt better and believed it was true. Today we know that USANA manufactures and sells the finest quality products that money can buy. Our health is the most important thing for not only living a long life but one that can be enjoyed every year we are alive. The founder of USANA, Dr. Myron Wentz says" " Live life to it's fullest in happiness and in health."

March is known throughout the sporting world as Madness when it comes to College Basketball. John Wooden is often mentioned for his Coaching ability and his mentoring. Many people often go through life and think about themselves and a "what's in it for me?" attitude. Thinking of others is often revealed as one of the quickest paths to personal growth. Many people in the USANA Family donate to the Childrens Hunger Fund monthly and often volunteer for many fund raising efforts throughout the year. Coach Wooden once said, " You can not live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." Improve your life by improving the lives of others.

Get to the Heart of the Matter

Your heart keeps the beat of your life and provides the rhythm for your soul. The heart has many roles in our life in addition to keeping the blood supply going to the rest of our body. The heart provides inspiration for poets, songwriters, athletes and people from all walks of life.
Evander Holyfield said, " It's not the size of a man but the size of his heart that matters." Our hearts can lead, guide and direct us in many important and life changing decisions.

This edition of our USANA Newsletter informs you to care for your heart as your heart cares for you with features including diseases related to heart disease, an article on Heart Health from Dr. Ladd McNamara, USANA Athletes and the Winter Olympics, Child Obesity, Blog Updates, Product
of the Month: MyHealthpak, and showing your heart to others.

Heart Disease is still the number one killer of Americans each year. The most common form of heart disease according to the CDC appears as a Heart Attack. Approx 785,000 had a new attack last year. We often hear the effects of Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure in addition to a Heart Attack. There are other Diseases such as Diabetes, Obesity, and Metabolic Syndrome linked to Heart Disease as outlined from the American Heart Association.

In my book, The Cholesterol Conspiracy, I emphasized how important co-enzyme Q10 (Co-Q10) is in promoting heart health: preventing cardiovascular disease, and apparently even reversing the signs of cardiovascular disease. However, the benefits of Co-Q10 are not limited to the heart, but are extended to the entire body, in particular to the brain, the skin, and most importantly to the reduction of cancer development and apparently as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of cancer itself!

The Winter Olympics will feature many team and individual USANA Sponsored Athletes. USANA offers a $1,000,000 guarantee to Athletes that they will not test positive for banned substances.

In Jan. we also Blogged a video titled Athletes & USANA that you can view on this page too.

Childrens Hunger Fund & Haiti relief.

Since the Earthquake in Haiti on Jan 12th there isn't a day that goes by where our hearts are not touched. The devastation will affect people for month if not years. The Childrens Hunger Fund is making a difference and you can too.

Our heart, we can wear it on our sleeve, follow it, lead with it, it can be broken, & mended. One can have the heart of a lion. It can be made of stone, gold, glass, be hungry, lonely, and love can be generated from all of it or it's bottom.

There are days in this month to think about others, those close to our heart, athletes, and Presidents. George Washington, our first President said," Let your heart feel for the afflictions and distress of everyone, and let your hand give in proportion to your purse. "
