Sounds of September

If you live in the North East there are many sights, smells, and sounds to remind you that the new season is arriving. Many kids and adults are starting back to a new school while many are content with old school. The new TV season, College & Pro Football are ready for action. You can almost hear Hank Williams Jr, singing, "Are you ready for some Football"?

What's new with USANA? This edition of our USANA Newsletter is much like the first day of school. The USANA International Convention recently took place in Salt Lake City Utah. We have exciting news from the Convention and new products in our Blog Updates, Vitamin D in the news from Dr's Christine Northrup and Dr. Ladd McNamara, Emergency Preparedness, and remembering many that made a difference. Just like the first day of school there will only be a little bit of homework in this issue.

Prevent Breast Cancer with Vitamin D By Dr. Christiane Northrup

There's a paradigm shift going on in medicine as new research reveals a far greater role for vitamin D. Vitamin D is not just for kids—or the prevention of rickets. Optimal levels of Vitamin D (40–80 ng/ml) enhance the creation and functioning of healthy cells throughout the body. In addition to protecting the bones and boosting the immune system, studies show that Vitamin D helps prevent certain cancers, including breast, ovarian, prostate and colorectal. Emergency Preparedness Month.

What have you done to prepare for an emergency? There are number emergencies that can strike quickly affecting you and your family. It could be Earthquake, Flood, Hurricane, H1N1 Flu (Swine), Fire, or Terrorist Attack. There are several websites to help you prepare for an emergency. Here are a

few.

FEMA- Ready.gov

Red Cross- Redcross.org

Center for Disease Control

Boy Scouts of America

It is recommended that you prepare a 72 hour kit filled with essentials to sustain you during that time. We would like to suggest adding the USANA Essentials. Health Pak, or My Health Pak along with USANA Nutrition Bars to your kit. Health and Nutrition should not take a back seat during an emergency.

We remember those that made a difference.

This month marks the anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks. We prayed for those that lost their lives and their families. The first responders and survivors put strangers ahead of themselves and showed us not just courage but American Courage, Will and Spirit. Currently Firefighters are battling many fires here in Ca. The words of Mariah Carey's Hero will close the USANA Newsletter. And then a hero comes along With the strength to carry on And you cast your fears aside And you know you can survive So when you feel like hope is gone Look inside you and be strong And you'll finally see the truth That a hero lies in you.
